The company, having strength of over 500 employees in its India office recently shrunk, selling off its enterprise business to world technology leader Zebra Technologies on October 24 2014.Prior to this acquisition, Motorola Solutions India was composed of the Government, Public Safety and Enterprise Mobility Solutions divisions. As a result of the change in restructuring of the organization, the employee size and overall fabric of the organization has altered considerably. This report seeks to analyze the downsizing or restructuring policies followed by the company and the impact on employee relations in the firm. It also seeks to identify domains in which the company might leverage its human resources more effectively.We focus on assessing the extent to which the current human resource policies and practices are aligned with the strategy of the firm, the degree of internal consistency and consistency with the strategy and provide feasible recommendations for organizational action.
The basis for the project has been primary as well as secondary research- for the former we personally interviewed the Motorola Solutions India Human Resources Head Ms. Mona Chadha, Assistant Manager (HR) Â at the Motorola office in Gurgaon, Haryana (face-to-face interview) as well employees from the organization about their experiences (LinkedIn). We also had telephonic interviews with a Marketing Manager and Finance Officer to get a full picture of the operations at Motorola Solutions, India.
