Argumentative Essay: Global Conflicts
ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY: GLOBAL CONFLICTS
“Is the dominant global form of conflict between civilizations?” (Huntington 1993, 99). The primary role of global conflicts has been a topic of discussion over the past centuries. The ability to understand what causes global conflicts will help our leaders prevent further global conflicts in the future. I believe several aspects play a dominant role in the global conflicts of the future. Politics will once again ignite the world of global conflicts. Third World Countries with poverty and poor educational structures will have a large role in global conflicts. High unemployment rates and less prosperous countries will always give rise to global conflicts. It is in “man’s nature to fight” and have conflict (Kaplan 2010, 75).

Politics will always have an important primary role in global conflicts and each country has their own political agenda. I feel cultural differences play a role in worldwide conflicts; however, it is not the dominant source. Some aspects of conflict go back to the beginning of time and time has a tendency to repeat itself. I believe in the future, politics will once again ignite the world of global conflicts. As stated in the article, Irregular Warfare, “we rediscovered that war is about politics” (Gray 2009). Politics is just one of several aspects that dominate global conflicts today and in the future.

Third World Countries with poverty and poor educational structures all play a large role in global conflicts. It goes back to the simple concept that if people are overall happy, they are least likely to display anger towards others or rebel. As stated in the article The Coming Anarchy “worrying about mines and ambushes frees you from mundane details of daily existence” (Kaplan 2010, 75). One can infer from the article that if their daily existence is dealing with poverty, they would rather choose war (Kaplan 2010, 75). The significance of that statement alone lets us know how poor their conditions truly are. Thus, poor socioeconomics is another major factor that causes global conflicts. We as a nation can assist with improving our neighboring countries in hopes of making a better place for future generations.

Additionally since the beginning of time, conflicts were solved by good old fist fights, duels, tests of will, and mere challenges to the death of the opponent. That has not changed in the twentieth first century. It is in a “man’s nature to fight” (Kaplan 2010, 75). The book “Van Creveld’ referenced in the article The Coming Anarchy “demolished the notion that men do not like to fight” (Kaplan 2010, 75). I believe as the author infers it is in “man’s nature to fight” and have conflict which plays an important role in global conflicts as well (Kaplan 2010, 75). The innate desire and will of man has proven to withstand the test of time and is still a factor in global conflicts.
