My approach to learning
Introduction:
Gibbs (1988) Reflective Cycle is the most learning style that apply to me.
Description:
One time, I planned to visit customers in Korea with my boss. By the time I arrived Korea, my boss just called me he hurt his shoulder and he couldnt join the meeting. So, I have to present our new generation products to customers on behalf of my boss. During the meeting, customer asked me about the technical question, I became speechless because I always relied on my engineer or boss to answer those questions. Actually, my customer didnt really ask very technical question, but something simple about our new products.
Feelings:
I felt so nervous and shamed when customer asked me something I couldnt answer. Especially those are our own products. Supposed it was a good chance to promote our products, but I felt that I ruined it.
Evaluation:
I would say it is a good and bad experience.
Good experience: It told me where my weakness was and I shared the feeling to my wife when I got back to the hotel. I got a very good support from her that she even told me it happened today, and I could do better next time.
Bad experience: I really felt shame at that moment. I even wanted to dig a hole to hide myself. How could a person not know his product when presenting?
Analysis:
It was a very embarrassed situation at that time. Actually, I should act bravely and informed customer I didnt know the answer instead of answering something else customer didnt ask.
