A survey from 1999 showed that 90% of high school dropouts were making a semi-successful living on blue-collar jobs. However, a recent survey from 2011 revealed only 60% of high school dropouts are currently able to support their families due to the plethora of college graduates. The reason backing this is college graduates are more often chosen for jobs than a student without a diploma. In result to statistics similar to these, many people are beginning to see the significance of education. In an address to Congress in 2009, President Obama said, “In a global economy where the most valuable skill you can sell is your knowledge, a good education is no longer just a pathway to opportunity; it is a prerequisite.” expressing his opinion of education. I believe that although education can come with an expensive price tag, schooling is one of the key factors of a successful life because many colleges and universities deliver high-end education, essential common sense situations, and a real-life living situation that prepares students for their future.
Theorize a situation similar to this: Two men are competing for the same desk position at a bank. The men are practically the same except one man is a high school dropout and has good looks, while in contrast the other man is academically advanced college graduate with a high grade point average. At first glance the one man with better looks may look better; but after later, in-depth investigation the smarter man will clearly earn the position. This further proves the unending argument of “is college worth it?” Is a life lived entirely in the red better than a life that is in debt until a job pays off college loans and later turns a profit? This question has a simple answer.
“Agh! Frank! Were out of food!” and then frank irritably replys with a sassy tone, “What do you want me to do?”
