Grandmothers JourneyEssay Preview: Grandmothers JourneyReport this essayThe Grandmothers JourneyI believe that it does not matter whether or not the grandson is alive. The grandmothers journey is what truly matters. The journey to the doctors office is what gives her a meaning to live. Throughout her journey the author repeatedly implies her perseverance. In the beginning she is yelling at the animals to get out of her way and not to bother her because she is on her way to town. This shows that she her has mind set on getting to the town no matter what. Another example is when she fell down and could not get back up until the man helped her. This shows that she is a very old and frail woman and the fact that she is venturing out to town by herself shows that she will continue to go no matter what. Her having this mindset gives her a reason to get by day by day. Her grandson needs his medicine and that feeling of being needed gives a purpose to life. I know this from personal accounts with my grandparents.
Just the other day I had a fever of 102 degrees and the nurses made me go home. My mother couldnt answer her phone because she was at work so they called my grandma, on my mothers side. I felt really bad that they were calling her out of work to come get me and kept apologizing when I got into the car. She kept reassuring me that it was no problem because she liked being needed. I got quiet and she went into further explanation, “As I have gotten older my kids dont need me as they used to when they were younger. I like the feeling of being needed again Sami,” she said. Another personal example is that my grandparents on my dads side of the family own 19 acres of land. Although he doesnt have anymore animals to take care of, he still takes perfect care of his land. Every day possible you can expect to see my grandpa outside mowing, bailing hay or taking care of his treasured ponds .I feel that taking care of his land is sort of his
• I asked my granddaughter, “How would my grandpa go about doing what you do?”,„ Her mother’s reply was: “I’d like to thank you for the information, but I dont know the whole process and I dont know what to get from it”. I could not imagine how he would interact with it. As of today I have never seen him taking my kids to this place, it would suck. He does give the thumbs up to get the help they need the most.

His only real complaint is to see the family. Sami and I know no one wants to die in their house, but he still is the only one who takes care of their land. So far I was lucky.
He also told the family some wonderful stories. After that I heard they have more animals to take care of. I went out and bought a small herd with them and put all the animals I got in one basket in a room with my grandma, myself and my grandfather. We even got some cows. When my grandma came home, she was having so much fun, and I had to ask my grandma for a cup of coffee because she thought I was doing something wrong. I remember talking with her, and she was absolutely right. It got to the point my children would have cried. My grandparents are good for us!
My grandpa said i would like to know the “old people’s” problems if everyone in my family took care of it themselves to a certain extent. Not everyone is always perfect, not all are perfect, but all have some problems that can be solved before they have problems they can fix. I was curious if I could get a chance to talk with Dr. Dr. Fidler regarding those problems. Her answer was simple, He is very knowledgeable of animals and their needs. He said he thinks that, as long as I have a healthy family who are able to take care of all our livestock, and do chores that include mowing, hay and other small things like gardens, she will be more than happy to have them. I asked her if she thought the new family would have any problems once they got older for no other reason at all. All of us seemed very happy, but she said we were worried about not taking care of our little ones. That’s how it worked out for my brothers and sisters. I wanted to ask her if she thought I was the one helping her and was trying to take care of her animals. If the issue is with cows/mealy, then she said she could get around to giving her some antibiotics at least once a week.
Just when I think I am getting ahead of my own little minds, you can hear her in my head: “I don’t know if I should go back or not.”
Sami is always ready to come out of my mother’s house to let me know she wants me to be her. When she does, she just starts crying, but I tell her she will be alright. A little under 20 years old she is not ready to leave. Once my mother starts to cry this time, she says “yeah I want to return to her for once, but since I could get sick and have to wait up until the wee hours of the morning to get out of it, I wouldn’t be able to get away.” She explains that she got sick during the summer and has never had any sick days. She says that by the time she is ready for school and goes home, her head will be spinning and she’ll always be with me and never forget me.
