Poe was a man that many to this day consider a lunatic an extreme individual with a love for the bizarre. Yet I consider him and a man with a great gift and knowledge of understanding the human conscience and mental thought patterns of people. His use of this gift was apparent in many of his works from black cat to writings such as the fall of the house of usher. His use of imagery and iron is most provident perhaps in his stories of the mask of the red death and the very popular tell tale heart.
Both stories contain a great deal of irony symbolism imagery and allusion for his depiction of every detail of a room or the vivid images supplied when a killer mentions how a murder took place he is capable of placing every detail possible into a mind before a climax takes place. This is a great talent for a sum of small details seems to set Poes writings apart from other modern stories of horror. This talent provides a depiction of an excellent story.
While all of his writing was written in an era that many people today can not relate to his writing remains popular. People have claimed this attribute of his writing is due to the fact that Poes writing contains no dates all of his writing contains events that could take place during any time period. This is a skill that allows him to remain a popular writer even tough he is long gone.
