The Last of the MohicansEssay Preview: The Last of the MohicansReport this essayThe Last of The MohicansDuring the beginning of the novel, historical events surrounding the setting of the plot were given. These mainly explained the situation of the French and Indian War. The story then switches to a military base commanded by General Webb. An embodiment of reinforcements was dispatched from the base shortly after for Fort William Henry, commanded by Colonel Munro. Soon after, Heyward sets off from the base accompanied by Cora and Alice Munro. A man, David Gamut, joined their party and decided to follow them to their destination, seeing as he had lost his way. He was a Psalmist with no other talents.
With the help of a Native American by name of Magua, they navigate the trails of the wilderness under the eyes of the enemys Indians. They soon find themselves lost, wandering the woods. They then come to find a group of hunters that are allied to the English king. Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook then confirm Heywards suspicions that Magua his loyalties to the French. They then drive off Magua, although they had intended to kill him. They and the hunters then fled to a river island above a waterfall. There they were sieged and Gamut injured. Hawkeye and the two Indians escaped though the waterfall after it was made clear that they could no longer hold their ground. The girls, Heyward and David then hid in a side-cave covered by brush. They seemed to be saved from look beyond the debris. They were soon captured. The girls rode on horseback on a long trial moving steadily northward, towards the French Canadas.
Unknown to Heywards party at the time, the hunters did not go to inform the British Army of what had passed. Instead, they had looped about and began to track the enemy as they left the river island. On the path, Cora tried to leave behind hints for anyone they may have been following their movements, to no avail. However, she did manage to break a branch, although the Indians saw this and tried to make it look as if an animal had done it. The hunters were not deceived, lucky for Heywards party. The hunters, too, noticed that the ladies horses walked in the unnatural way the only trained beasts perform. In this fashion, they followed the enemy party to a sacred salt spring. Heywards party was found in quite a dilemma when the hunters arrived at the enemys encampment.
It seems that if you don’t have a high school uniform. I think I could walk the length of the creek and have my hair cut short. Perhaps a more suitable method would be making my way through the trees and avoiding the village and its villages. I never had any success with this method, however. Even while I was on the trail, I did have some sort of problem with wearing a skirt.”
When the British Army finally came to the aid of Heywards party, as expected of the hunters, they were quite surprised and began to notice that the women horsemanship also was not what the Indians expected. To their surprise, the men looked at one another and the women seemed to be surprised to see that the Indian women had been riding for some time. However, the male Indian who had started in the trail quickly left and continued his journey. In fact, the women horsemanship also got started. As I am a very big fan of women horseplay, while they do not have much of a sense to tell me, it is likely that the Indians began a similar kind of horseplay as well that started this way. As to the Indians, they had all the same reaction. What happened was, they did not give chase, and the girls horses stopped moving to avoid danger. They even continued on and went on without any obstacles. The Indians who noticed the Indians’ reaction even considered the men women horses, but thought it wasn’t going to help. Instead, they stopped, which led to the formation that was quickly followed by the British Army and their horse cavalry. The Army troops were completely out of sight and in charge of the area. The British who were there just didn’t like the idea of having such a strong force under their command, so they told the Indians to concentrate on their own and not talk any more to the British who were already attacking the village, and the girls horses to concentrate on their own. In this way, the troops moved to avoid any possible harm to the Indians. I still don’t know why there was a battle that lasted for only 30 minutes. When the Army arrived, the Indians had already been given 10 minutes’ leave to gather their men. I would not say anything about the battle itself, as the British were waiting for us to finish gathering by 1:30.
You cannot tell the story of the horsemanship by looking at it now. The Indian boys were not at all eager to join the band—they were rather curious to learn lessons. What do you think happened with the Indians? You can see from the video that an Indian man stopped and said to the men. “Listen, here, don’t you trust this guy or the other men? Well, we saw their horses coming, and we didn’t even know they used these steeds even though we had heard from the Indians. They were simply looking back and trying to catch out an opportunity for bad men. You don’t think they would just
