A Growing Need for Changes in the School SystemA Growing Need for Changes in the School SystemDeVry UniversityA Growing Need for Changes in the School SystemThe school system here in Harrisonville, MO is need of major changes, and this is shown due to the recent “Force-Out” of the Schoolboard’s Superintendent. With this “force-out” the school board has now over spent the annual budget allotted for legal fees due to the personal vendetta that some of the schoolboard members had against the Superintendent by more than double. Since all of the discussions over the force out are coming to an end the newest disputes are over who the new Superintendent will be since they voted in an underqualified candidate rather than the candidate that had a long list of qualifications.
The Student Assembly  .
A Student Assembly in Harrisonville, MO is comprised of 2 student representatives and two local supervisors, a teacher and a general practitioner.
Students are responsible for being present and to attend the discussion. The council members, teachers, residents and their allies are present and there are also students who have voiced their opinions.
Please note, that we do not want to use the term Force-out to exclude students of higher quality from the discussion. That said the Council does not need to declare who the new Superintendent of Administration will be or who the new board of trustees will be. The new Mayor has made a commitment to make sure that there are no students being pushed out of the conversation; the Council will be able to discuss and decide what the issue should be about for the community.

I can provide a unique personal angle to this topic due to having two small children within the school system that are both being effected with the changes. My wife who is majoring in education has given me a great insight from what she has learned and what the school system would need to do in order to change what they are doing to become successful.
The purpose for writing this paper is to better educate myself on what is going on around me and in my kids’ lives, to know what difference I can make to get them the education they need, and to also spread the word of the problems that we are currently experiencing. My hopes is to get the issues resolved without disrupting the education of my children, and to improve their education rather than allowing the current issues within the schools to continue.
This community is very close knit especially for those who grew up here. It seems that everyone grew up here, moved away for college, and then moved back. With this in mind the town almost appears to be cliquish so to speak in that everyone still spends their free time with the same people that they did when they were growing up. Most people are not open to new people that are from outside of this community, or to change. The town appears to be halted in any form of progression to grow whether it be new businesses opening up, or making changes to the school system.
In my opinion it appears as though a lot of the community fears change because they have become accustomed to the way that things are, and have been for many years. This lack of change and progression with the changing world hinders this town from growing, and surviving. People are beginning
