Dear, George Johnson
The Body –>Hey George I can help wondering about you in Alabama. We were such good friends. Im writing you to tell you about Harlem its more than what I though it to be.

When I first got here I had trouble finding a place to stay I tried everywhere in new York but no one would let me even look at a place they called me all sorts of names but then a man came up to me an told me to try Harlem so I eventually did I went there. All I saw there was Negros just like us. I found a place but it wasnt like the ones in other parts in new York but it was home.

I found a good paying job quick at a blues house I was stock boy. It was hard labor working in the back but it paid way more than what I had gotten down there. On night I heard a beautiful sound I didnt know what or were the noise was but I walked out to the front part of the bar and I saw performers just playing away I never herd such beauty before and it was from a black man I was so intrigued with it after his show I went up to him and asked him what he was playing and he said “that was called blues, baby. If you like it that much ill show you how to pay.” I have practiced so much that I was making the beautiful noise he was I eventually showed my boss an he offered me to play tonight wish me luck.

Sincerely,
Darrel Williams.
