What practices can be introduced to help reduce the reluctance to change and make users feel more comfortable with mastering new technology? What affect does a companys attitude toward integrating new technology and developing its employees have on the companys culture?
I have a close friend have has a real phobia when it comes to changes where she works. It too the point that when she lost her job due to downsizing she had a hard time getting up the nerves to look for another job “good thing her husband has a good paying job.” With talking to her doctor she found out that her phobia was geared around the fact that she was no longer in control. One of the practice her and her doctor worked on was having her take back control of her career. With some training and practice she eventually gain confidence to take control. This is something we all at some point in our career felt, may be not to this extreme, but develop some concerns. Manager can easy his or her employee into mastering new technology by allowing their staff to take control of upcoming changes to technology. By allowing those to first go over these changes in their own space instead of introducing it for the first time in a training lab. Doing so allow trainee to feel comfortable with manager decision and feel that his or her manager care not only about the needs of the company but also the needs of their staff.
