Measuring Up
Essay title: Measuring Up
Measuring up
So I’m sitting here rather tired and staring at a blank screen while wondering what to write. I need to write at least five paragraphs with a minimum of five sentences in each to just barely get the mark I want, but I’m having trouble. I can’t think of what to write that would fill up that much space. Well I just finished reading the two articles on food and its link to a healthy brain assigned to the class to be read and while reading them I started to wonder. I was wondering how well my own diet stood up to the recommendations that these articles were giving. Do I consume too much sugar? How am I doing on the fats that I consume? Do I eat properly every day?
When it comes to measuring up in terms of eating my way to a healthy lifestyle and sugar consumption I think I’m doing alright. Without a doubt I must admit my preferred diet consumes way too much sugar. Fortunately, due to the fact that consuming as much sugar as I do, and consuming it in the ways that I like to, is costly, it is rare that I actually over consume sugar. You see, I love candy, and love eating plentiful loads of it, but I rarely find myself in a store where I can just buy candy and some of few times that I do, I don’t even have money on me. Generally, I consume a healthy amount of sugar, especially considering that it was noted that glucose is an important nutrient to keep the brain working at full power.
So eating healthy has to come from every angle of your diet, including fats, and I wonder, “Am I on the right track?” To be honest here, I think I might consume just a little too much fat or at the least too much of the wrong fats. Yet, when you take into consideration the fact that I had been trying to gain weight all summer and managed only a measly five pounds, which I believe have already been lost, I think it’s safe to say that due to my high metabolism, my body could use a little extra fat. In measuring up to the articles’ recommendations for a healthy diet I believe I do quite well but could do better. This is because just about everything that was listed for eating within the two articles I recognized as foods I often eat. I always eat vegetables and such, even fish, the only bad thing is all the fatty foods and negative foods listed in these articles are in my diet too. So I consume a lot of fat and not all of it is omega 3, but when you factor in my metabolism and the amount of exercise I exert my body to, I measure up quite nicely in terms of eating my way to a healthy lifestyle.
Now, with sugar and fats I seem to be measuring up rather well in terms of eating my way to a healthy diet overall. But
