A heart attack affects thousands of people each year leading to almost half a million deaths a year, in the US, and this does not even include the ones who make it a survive. It is a chronic illness that happens because the arteries, which are the vessels that supply oxygen through the blood to the heart, are more narrowed. Since the have become more normal they are unable to carry a normal amount of blood. Usually the cause for the lessening in sized is because the arteries, a process in which deposits of fat collected inside wall of an artery. This is known as atherosclerosis. These fatty deposits known as plaque are usually from cholesterol. When the blood to the heart is reduced it does not bring a sufficient amount of oxygen to the heart for it to function properly. When this happens a person will experience a heavy feeling or tightness and pain in the center of their chest. The shooting pains could even reach the neck, back, and left arm. These attacks can last for several minutes but probably feel like a lifetime in youre the one experiencing one. The heart is deprived for oxygen for such a long time that the heart muscle cells begin to die. One usually experiences a heart attack during times of physical activity, emotional stress, or even cold weather. These times are more apt to experience a heart attack because they put a lot of strain on the heart making the need for it to do more work. Other signs that a heart attack could be coming include excessive sweating or nausea and even vomiting. Heart attack symptoms can and do vary greatly with everyone.
