Religion and Power        If one of the candidates openly admitted that he or she was an atheist during the heat of a United States presidential election campaign, I think this action might bring negative impact to this candidate because we can tell from the religious in United States graph that approximately 57% of people in the United States have a religion belief. The power of religion can not be ignored. It can change people’s minds and behaviors greatly. Most time people tend to choose the candidate who share the same belief or value with them more. The candidate might stand in an inferior position if he or she claims to be an atheist and this candidate might get less vote than he or she shouldn’t have. On the other hand, I also believe that most people in the United States respect other people’s religion choice and if the candidate holds a respectful attitude to any religion beliefs, there maybe possible the religion wouldn’t affect the votes for candidates a lot, but the power of religion do holds an affect on politics. The power of religion definitely should not be overlooked.  For example, the compete between candidates, one candidate might use the other candidate’s religion faith to manipulate or confound the masses’ point of view toward this candidate.

In my point of view, religion faith is not a necessary job criterion to be a president. Everyone has a free choice of whether having a religion, but having a religion do help the candidate to experience more and have a deeper understanding of how the power of religion affect people and politics. I think the candidate does not have to have a religion to be a president, but the president has to have a strong acknowledge for the power of religion.  Also, the president has to hold a respectful attitude for people’s religion choice.
