Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), or just Kaiser Family Foundation, is a U.S.-based non-profit, non-partisan, private operating foundation headquartered in Menlo Park, California. It focuses on major health care issues facing the nation, as well as U.S. role in global health policy. The Foundation states that it is a “non-partisan source of facts and analysis for policymakers, the media, the health care community, and the general public.” The Foundation is no longer affiliated with Kaiser Permanente or Kaiser Industries.History        The Foundation was established in 1948 by Henry J. Kaiser. The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) was originally set up in Oakland, the same city that was the headquarters for Kaiser Permanente. As the goal date of 2015 approaches, the two Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that address MCH – MDG 4 (reduce child mortality) and MDG 5 (improve maternal health) –are at risk of not being met, though child and maternal mortality have been falling. Despite the availability of effective interventions, lack of funding and limited access to services have hampered progress, particularly on maternal health. Of all eight MDGs, countries have made the least progress towards MDG 5 (Cooper & Schindler, 2011).
