In 1771, Knox joined the Continental Army and later served George Washington in the Revolutionary War.. In 1772, Henry Knox joined the Boston Grenadier Corps.  Two years later, he married Lucy Flucker.
In 1775, Henry Knox volunteered to fight at the Battle of Bunker Hill. He also met General George Washington. Washington had taken over command of the Continental Army. As Knox and Washington  shared their knowledge about history and military artillery, Henry Knox and George Washington soon became friends. Washington made Henry a colonel in command of the Continental Army’s artillery division.
Henry Knox led a group of men on a 300 mile trip to Fort Ticonderoga. In less than two months, Knox and his group of men maneuvered 60 tons of artillery to Boston.
