There are just as many problems with sending your child to daycare as there is with
putting them in a home daycare or caring for them at home. One of the biggest concerns of
parents is knowing who is taking care of their child. In most situations when you are deciding to
put your child into a home daycare setting it is because you are aquainted with the person that is
running the daycare or you someone referred you to this person because their child or children
goes there. The same goes for childcare centers which means usually you choose a particular
center based off of knowing someone who works there, knowing a parent that child attends the
daycare or because it is either convenient or affordable. I am a parent and when looking for
daycare for my son and daughter the first thing that came to mind was convenience which I
ended up finding a daycare right around the corner from my house. The next thing I looked into
was the price which ended up being cheaper because I live in the suburbs versus the city which is
more expensive. I toured the center to actually meet the staff and get to know who I would be
leaving my child in care of.
When it comes to home daycare most concerns with sending your child would be the
condition of the person’s home, who are the people that will be around your child, how qualified
are they to be around children or to teach children, how the daycare is set up and what kind of
activities or a listing of a daily schedule and what the child will be learning on a daily basis.
There is not a big deal when it comes to being affordable because if you are attending a daycare
that will accept child care initiative they are a state funded program that helps middle or lower
class families pay for a portion of their childcare expenses to make it easier for the parent. The
plus to sending your child to a home daycare would be if you have a child that needs a lot of
attention that is a good choice because the teachers would be able to spend more time caring for
