Celebrities have a huge influence on men and women. Especially men and women between the ages of 16 and 24. At this age, people pay attention to the media and what society portrays in the media the most. People are usually more prone to believing everything they hear. They base different aspects of their lives like hair, clothes, language, and body image on that of a certain celebrity. I can talk about this from personal experience. I can admit a lot of the things I do and say are from a celebrity influence. Some influences can be good, and others not so much. Some things can help with self confidences, but some could hurt you. In many cases it could ruin your life. But, whether its a good influence or bad influence, celebrities actions have an affect on most young peoples lives.
There are so many negative aspects of celebrity influences, its pretty hard to keep up. Personally, I believe women are more easily affected by celebrities than males. Now dont get me wrong, males are definitely affected by celebrities, but women have a better way of showing how their being affected. They look for acceptance in society more than men do. You can see it in the way women dress, how they style their hair, how the react to different situations. But because men are generally reserved creatures, the affects look pretty slim. Look at all the negative female role models in the media. Paris Hilton, Rihanna, and everyones favorite, Lindsey Lohan. Paris Hilton has had multiple DWIs from her late night partying. Most of Rihannas songs are about sex. “I may be bad but im perfectly good at it. Sex in the air I dont care i I love the smell of it.” She is viewed as a sex symbol in the media. Lindey Lohan has been in and out of jail for the past several months. She has been in and out of rehab for not only drinking, but for hard core drugs like cocaine. These woman glorify sex, partying, drugs, drinking. They make it seem like its ok to do.
