In response to the radical claims made in your manifesto, Industrial Society and
Its Future, it appears you fail to adequately address the impact of a worldwide,
societal, de-evolution. The times in which you claimed Human Nature and Mother Nature co-existed harmoniously, simple factors such as population and availability of vital, natural resources were seemingly ignored.

It is common knowledge that the global population is increasing exponentially. Only a century ago, census numbers indicated the world population to be approximately three hundred and ten million. Today, that number is rapidly approaching seven billion strong. One thousand years in the life of man is the equivalent to one sunset in the life of Mother Earth. However, one thousand years in the life of man is much more significant.

The impact we have made on this Earth in a relative short period of time has been nothing short of astounding. Biotic and abiotic alike, we have exhausted numerous

essential, non-renewable resources. The meaning of the word “extinction” exists because man exists. In the blink of nature’s eye, man has slit her throat. Just as industry is the off-spring of man, man is the off-spring of nature; and as man destroys nature, industry will eventually destroy man. I apologize if I bear any resemblance to Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park but, the formula does work. I agree with you. I get it. Unfortunately, we are no longer in a position as humans to survive in nature without the aid of our off-spring. Equate it to growing so old that one can no longer care for themselves without the aid of their children.

The harmonious time when Mother Nature and Human Nature could co-exist no longer does exist. We are not a world of millions anymore. We are a world of billions. Rainforests
