We all know the sad weather disaster that happened August 29th, 2005. It was on the news day after day it was Hurricane Katrina. What a tragedy that many people died in. The water covered peoples houses from bottom to top. The way of getting around however was by boats. The wind was up to 140 mph.
Up goes the ocean 20 feet above the normal seat level. Emily Sohn says, “Louisiana and Mississippi was under more then a foot of water.” Many people stayed on their rooftops, but they have to be evacuated from there incase the winds and water got higher. I saw a picture of a homeless man after Hurricane Katrina he was found out to be deiced. The question is was Hurricane Katrina a natural disaster?!?! Jeffery Mount says, “the answer is yes. All hurricanes are a natural process.”
If there is a battle between people and nature we know who is going to win. Nature! Nature has strong winds, blizzards, storms. Science news for kids states that, “the effects werent surprising.” Hurricane Katrina wasnt the only disaster. In 1928 there was a horrible hurricane hitting Florida. It killed about 2,000 people. Wow, thats a lot of people.
In 1906 an earthquake occurred in San Francisco, California. This disaster stole about 1,000 peoples lives. It is a scary world out there, but we all have to face it alone someday. Natural disasters dont happen very much. We all have to learn to be prepared. R.I.P(rest in peace) to all of those who lost their lives in Hurricane Katrina.
