The question is: are people to look to their emotional or rational side in determining what to act upon? The obvious answer is – reason. Where with reason, the answers are clear, emotions often cloud judgment.
In a rational society, people know their place and their duty. For instance, a garbage collector may not enjoy the work he/she does, but knows that it is a vital task in society. Reason allows people live better lives through the development of technology, creating more comfortable and functioning lifestyles, and even to realize our personal human potential. If everyone were to use reason, people would know enough to be able to put the most rational people in the government (unlike the current setup), and no one would disagree (being rational people themselves). Petty fights and even wars would end in a true “Age of Reason,” because the citizens know that arguments are pointless and there is no need for them. Governments (filled with the most rational people), would understand the repercussions a war has on society and that they are fought out of anger, greed, and sometimes even stupidity.
It shows the point (and the reality) of a logical system. The reason why it appears is simple: people don’t want to fight, and all they want is to believe that the government will fix it, without an ounce of change. What they want is to be left alone because they can think and act however they like. That is what we were brought to believe in a true or honest democracy where people could choose to be part of one’s community (with a free vote).
If you want to live a rational human life, then a logical system will help with that. In a society where people believe their value is above government, where people hold to an axiom that people have values above everything else, you will be forced to live in an order that’s more in line with rationalist ethics (in other words, a lot more complex), or the government won’t take care of the “tribal” things which affect the majority.
And you need not worry about what is or is not morally acceptable as long as you’re willing to ignore the facts.
