IKEA Sustainability: An Incentive Approach to Business and Economic Recovery
The Ikea Group has a strong track record. In 2013-2014, in order to support its annual budgets, the Ikea Group developed a series of initiatives and objectives to be used under Ikea’s sustainability policy. These included:
1) The aim of the Ikea Group is to create sustainable sustainable communities for young people, who have access to basic skills and the ability to apply those in knowledge for better employment.
2) Our project focused on improving the infrastructure, employment, social services and economic well-being of young people around the world.
3) We developed a strong focus on international markets, focusing on improving the country’s physical, intellectual, technical and cultural development.
4) We pursued a comprehensive strategy to achieve the goals, including a global footprint of 1.05 billion strong worldwide.
5) We made several initiatives aimed to promote the positive impact of the Ikea-specific actions. We aimed to achieve both a strong, healthy and sustainable economy.
Achieving that aim requires an economic transformation – and one that is a sustainable process, not a one based on individual preferences or specific interests.
We undertook projects such as opening up IKEA stores, promoting sustainable development models and reducing the number of companies that operate in a given area.
The Ikea Group’s actions and objectives have led to significant reductions in the country gross domestic product, a 10 percent reduction in the number of restaurants and shops in the world, and a 1 percent increase in economic growth of more than 1.5 percent.
Moreover, we improved food production, and in particular in terms of quality produce and services, by expanding the size of restaurants in the entire country.
We have also developed an economic programme for future sustainable development of IKEA stores. In this programme we aim to use the new Ikea store in Mihailville, central Amsterdam, to be one of the flagship stores in the IKEA Group’s global brand store. We hope to promote local competitiveness through our innovative sustainability policies.
The Ikea Group’s economic performance has continued to make a significant contribution to its own prosperity.
