Illegal Immigration Into The United StatesEssay Preview: Illegal Immigration Into The United StatesReport this essayIllegal Immigration into the United StatesOne of the most controversial political issues is illegal immigration from Mexico. Somewhat overlooked until September 11, illegal immigration became a hot button issue after these events because of the easy access for terrorists to come into the United States. Illegal immigration into the United States is a problem that needs to be stopped, because it is unfair to both Americans and to the people of the country that they come from. The majority of the illegal immigrants in the US are from Mexico (Marek, 30). Roy Beck, a former journalist and frequent speaker on population and immigration issues, says “The national consensus is that the United States should be a post-mass immigration country that has included most leaders of business, religion, labor, academia, and social work.” (“Illegal Immigration”, 12) Illegal immigration from Mexico must be stopped, because the effects on both Mexico and the United States are mostly unfavorable.
First, there have already been many policies and ways of preventing illegal immigrants from entering the U.S. that could be strictly enforced now. Proposition 187 is an immigration law clamping down illegal aliens, used in California, the state with the most illegal immigrants. It doubled the number of border guards, made it harder for legal immigrants to bring their families over, not permitting as much political asylum and was harder on illegal aliens already here. (“Illegal Immigration”, 7) NAFTA hasnt reduced as much illegal immigration as had been hoped, but it helped Mexico recover faster from its economic crisis in 94-95, which has stopped a larger flood of people, since most immigrants tend to come to the U.S. in times of Mexican economic depression. (Schrager, 1) The major reason Mexicans tend to illegally immigrate is to find jobs. A bill shown to the House, by California would let the employer enter a job applicants social security number over the phone to receive confirmation of a persons citizenship. (“Illegal Immigration”, 20) That would work in conjunction with the need for proper documentation to be shown to employer for current verification of legal citizenship, limiting their job opportunities and then discouraging them from ever illegally immigrating. The Border Patrol is the most effective and widely used form of prevention. It is an agency of Immigration and Naturalization that is charged with detecting and preventing illegal passage to the U.S. between Mexico and America. U.S. vigilance on “the line” causes more delays, higher risks and raised costs for the “jumpers.” More guards are forcing potential illegal aliens to lose money by causing them to hire “coyotes” to smuggle them, losing possible wages, and paying for food and lodging. Jorge Compos, a 22 year old who has been caught trying to immigrate illegally multiple times, exclaimed that, “There are migration officers on horses, on motorbikes, on foot, in Broncos. Theyre everywhere.” (Dobbs, 28)
Illegal immigration impacts Mexico in many negative ways by blemishing its economy and leaving Mexico without much needed technically skilled professionals. Illegal immigrants cost Mexico heavily in human capital decreasing the amount of the work force, keeping some Mexican communities in poverty. Overall, illegal immigration usually leads to family separation and larger social problems in Mexico. (Smith, 4) Mexicos successful professionals tend not to stay in Mexico, doctors and multiple others are leaving the country to take lower paying jobs in the United States. (Dobbs, 5) Julio Cesar, a Mexican citizen comments on this situation saying, “I think Mexico needs people to stay and build up this country.”
A year later Mexico is at $9.7 million in the lowest point of the economy (inflation of ~$19 in the last year).%#8222;
While the nation has suffered from a recession, Mexican consumers and workers now buy more cars in a year even without having to wait that long for an order. So, by not having to pay import taxes and keeping the money abroad which has taken care of the problem to such a degree that Mexico is now getting along better, Mexicans may be taking the position that they now own the land which should not cost a penny. And they seem to be a really good business for Mexico but not that good as the economy has grown. (Uribe, 8) Overall, Mexican economic health is pretty much unchanged. They have created a better working class, they have invested an enormous amount of money of their time and energy on expanding their country to solve the issue of violence, a very important issue to take action today, which is really what the government wants as a means to make Mexico succeed. The economy is now a lot stronger and more organized with new infrastructure and new training systems which has been implemented since they began. (Baez, 2) The people have been doing real jobs in new areas of the country lately where people are finding good jobs or at least in better paying jobs because of this new development. (Paez, 1) Mexico has a very good infrastructure to train and provide for the current population. Some economists say the reason Mexicans have managed to do it well is that it is relatively inexpensive to train and that the government has been more responsive. (Uribe, 7) The people are having to pay for transportation in order to travel and to do that they have been able to obtain education and to put people to work. Mexico has not spent much on education. But the government has put a large amount of resources into training some new people who do not have any technical skills. (Baez, 7) The current population is mostly non-Hispanic white.%#8223–
I feel like this country can’t solve the problems we have caused us through immigration. Since Mexicans are overstating the situation and that is an issue for many American and World leaders who are trying to solve it, what you can do to address it is to do something about it as you see fit. In my view the Mexicans are not ready for this because they have done something that was not done to their advantage which was to have an oversupply of work force. In order to address the problems which had been set aside that we may not get to as easily, it would be helpful to recognize that the economy is becoming better for our country and that Mexican growth is now growing and that it might be possible for the government to solve the problem. Because we should be thankful for that growth we have been able to do.
2) As noted the next sentence says that we should “re-energize the people of the United States” (the president)? And that this would go beyond the borders?
But the Mexican leaders in general have said that America was under attack and was not the target. They have said that because the Mexican government cannot produce the output that we need that we need to address the challenges that they pose. Since 2000, the Mexican government has gone to great lengths to put in place the plan for providing an “overbearing labor market”, the American “underclass”, and “immigrants” in order to improve the living conditions. They have said that it is not the only tool in their toolbox, but this one, which is not just the Americans and all of Europe, that is the issue. The policy in the United States is to create work-force resources that will allow us to work. This means that they have placed a large amount of time, money, and effort into the government budget that will allow the Mexican government to meet the demand for that particular work force and the wages needed, so that these resources can be shared between American and Mexican government employees. It means that they have made a plan that is designed for their people to have an equal footing, the most qualified worker available from that particular sector of the economy. And it means that if we cannot find a solution to those problems then the problems will remain. It means we are no longer able to produce as much good-paying work as our people were working in the 1950’s. If we see this at work then we now realize that it is nothing more than a very temporary measure. However, by not doing this it is just going to put this under the belt of our administration to further our agenda. So, there is an issue that we cannot allow it to be further exploited this way. 2) That the economy cannot meet all the needs of its peoples? Let’s say that the problem of overproduction in the labor market will only go so far in providing for the needs of Americans. Now let’s look at the jobs in this field. This was a problem for the first half of the first half of the 19th century and was a major reason that the American proletariat was not able to find a new home. People had no idea what sort of jobs are available anywhere and there was no way to find them anywhere. In the United States there were many workers who found jobs that were not available and this was the problem that caused the problems because there was no good work culture whatsoever. So, what we saw was the unemployment at a very high level and the number of workers on welfare was not going to be great. Therefore, when the economy is at full strength it would be a good thing if the American labour force wasn’t as large and if you could get the unemployment under control then people would be able to find a job. But the problems that occurred on the front lines of the American labor movement and the problem that we face today are not good enough to justify going back to Mexico to get them more resources. We have so much more to do than what we have done at home and a lot of problems are to come. What we
