Just like the way Industrial revolution has changed the way we think, behave and live, so has the Internet revolutionized life as we know it “The world is poised on the cusp of an economic and cultural shift as dramatic as that of the Industrial Revolution” (Levy). The format that the educational body practices has now been changed. It has adopted the new age technology (the Internet) utilizing its endless capabilities. For example, the universities are now able to compress their semester length courses using an ioptimize integrated learning system that gives the students an option of an 8 week course. Moreover, online courses are also available to students that they way have the privilege of choosing a learning environment of their preference. According to the author, “web-based hybrid courses are gaining in popularity in institutions of higher learning for both undergraduate and graduate nursing education” (Kumrow). Since the Internet, e-books are now available to students which eliminated the purchasing of text books. Visiting the library has become less frequent since e-book, articles, newspapers and magazines can be access through the Internet from a web databases.
The Industrial revolution and Internet has change the way we do business. Industrial revolution and Internet has created a business term commonly known as Ecommerce. With Ecommerce, businesses are now able to expand and sell their products worldwide. The Internet has opened a door of endless capabilities for businesses. Also companies are now able to open their doors 24 hours 7 days a week which increases the sale by tremendous numbers. The Internet is also cost effective for businesses that use paper statements that now can use e-statement. Moreover, businesses can reduce the lengthy lines by using e-bill where customers pay their bills through the internet. According to the author,” the strengths of an online business include 24/7 operation; the ability to place your products in front of a world audience and make a decent return from a niche market; the low overheads; and online businesses are significantly cheaper to set up” (Gilbert).
