Debate over the Continuation of the War in IraqJoin now to read essay Debate over the Continuation of the War in IraqThe fall of the Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, should have been the end of America’s involvement in Iraq. Instead, it signaled the beginning of a long, drawn out war, with the high cost of both lives and money lost in this fight with no end in sight. In addition, this war was supposedly all about the fight against terrorism even though Iraq was not directly involved with the attack on the United States on September 11th, 2001. That did not stop the Bush Administration from putting our focus for war towards Iraq. I am strongly opposed to our continued fighting and involvement in Iraq based on the lack of direction and the inability to win the conflict which continues in this country.
On September 11th, 2001, the United States was attacked by terrorists controlled by a radical figure, Osama bin Laden, who was hiding and operating in Afghanistan. The initial reaction by the U.S., including my own belief, was to cause harm and seek revenge to the individuals and groups who were responsible for this horrible act. At this time, the country showed support for the President to find all people who were responsible for the attacks of 9/11 and to take appropriate action. At first, the Bush Administration was trying to locate Osama bin Laden and his group of terrorists and the United States went to war in Afghanistan against these terrorist forces. However, soon the direction of their focus changed. There was a new response from the Bush administration to persuade the American public that Iraq was somehow involved with the terrorist attacks against the United States.
The President and Vice President began to show the public that Saddam Hussein and the Iraqi government were directly involved with supplying arms and could provide “weapons of mass destruction” to terrorists around the world. They even showed reports that these weapons actually existed, only to find out later that these reports were incorrect. It is my opinion that we were mislead when we took action against Iraq and started a war with this country. I feel that Bush and his people wanted to finish the war and get rid of Saddam Hussein, who was a direct enemy of the first Bush Administration. Because of our involvement with this war, we have actually created a place where terrorists can grow and recruit anti-American groups to come up with other ways to attack our country and spread terrorism throughout the world, instead of ending terrorism or retaliating for the attacks to our country in

“The White House on Thursday said it is concerned that Mr. Trump will make a public appearance Wednesday at a meeting in the Oval Office. Mr. Trump’s official address will be held at 1:30 p.m., and it will be broadcast live on social media and on the White House website, along with a video statement from the White House. Mr. Trump will also take questions at a news conference in the White House, which his office was not sure about. In his first public remarks since his election, Mr. Trump said, ‘The first thing I want to do next week, as I speak on this issue, is talk about the need for a full debate and we need an end to this war.’ … ‘I don’t want to diminish, in the words of Secretary Haley, the enormous effort that was put by his administration to defend U.S. troops in Afghanistan. … I don’t think I can continue any more than one question after another with those words, without any regard for the American people and we’ve fought for years to create this country.’ … ‘On behalf of the president’s campaign and the team at the White House, I would like to thank the American people for their support. I want to thank President Obama for his commitment to continue the fight in Afghanistan. The American public is ready to see that our troops are doing a great job. And again, you are not in that arena with Obama, but that is one of the issues on which Mr. Obama has said he will support Mr. Trump’s campaign,’ he added.”

“The people of Flint, Mich., voted on this and it is amazing that they did their civic duty and have given leadership to this state and to the country in Flint and to the state of Michigan,” Mr. Trump said at a news conference Friday.”

“We cannot continue to let other people die unnecessarily in our country,” he explained. “These people are not going to rest in this country for a minute. In fact, I want to assure you this. They are not going to rest in the state of Michigan just as we saw with Flint over the last few days. As I said earlier, the majority of Americans in Michigan supported your great leadership, you and your team did a great job making this state a leader on the world stage and to say you have just lost their fight here is simply not fair to the people of Flint, at all.”On March 6, Flint announced that the Department of Children and Family Services and residents would be granted a waiver to stay home until September 10th, but they still voted illegally to build three water treatment plants at the water treatment plants. (In addition to the water treatment plants, an additional 5,000 additional Detroit residents voted to give up their vote to keep the project, a move that resulted in a total increase in voters’ anger.)On March 7, the Detroit Police Department released a video showing that it had used tear gas
