The Nigerian Police Force: A Menace in the Society
Police: A Public Menace in the Society
It really beats my imagination to know that the so called force thats charged with the responsibility of protecting and safeguarding the lifes and properties of people are busy indulging in illicit acts that results into public menace.
It has really gotten to a point where the police, now, show their acrobatic and professional skills by beating innocent civilians, and also show their irresponsibility by extorting money from transporters; also, it has gotten so pathetic that a police officer would shoot an individual, and then base it on an accidental discharge.
This hits me, seriously, and have made me ask many questions on various media platforms; unfortunately, it seems the people have no real answer to give me. Its, really, touchy to see innocent transporters who are trying to make a living out of that stressful job been milked dry by this dreaded monsters in police uniform.
The police officers, are meant to be on the alert to safe guard the life of the citizen. Instead, they mount stategic checkpoints, on the roads, so they would be able to trap innocent, and unsuspecting civilians which have lead to the accident of many people. Lets take a cursory look at the ghastly accident that occured at “Toll Gate” area of Ogun State: The police officers, who mounted an illegal checkpoint, stopped a bus thats fully loaded with yam, with a woman in it, to ask for bribe; suddenly, a Dangote truck that was on high speed, perhaps with a faulty break, hit and skidded the bus and some cars, including the policemen, into a canal thats beside the road. Luckily, the bus driver and the woman only sustained injuries, but the policemen died. When I heard this, I said to myself, “This unnecessary accident could have been prevented if those devil incarnated policemen hadnt stopped the bus just for bribe.”
