What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary DayEssay Preview: What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary DayReport this essayThe Thorough Synopsis of The Piano LessonA true work of art The Piano Lesson is, written by August Wilson in 1990. The descriptions he wrote throughout his book leave a lot to the imagination. While the movie, made in 1998 made the most of Wilsons works and mapped it out into a format that television audiences across the world could see. My intake of the characters, audio/visual elements, and the plot, which always thickens is quite controversial. A lot of critics try to dissect Wilsons work, but even after seeing the movie, there are many opinions on how it shouldve been portrayed, and many more unanswered questions.
The scene opens with the characters Lymon and Boy Willie having a conversation while driving down an old country road. From the beginning, their diction stood out first. Deep southern accents could be heard in their voices, not only in their voices but in all the characters voices throughout the play. Although their accents were very southern, the dialogue might have also suggested a lack of education in the characters. Being that most blacks didnt have very much education back then, their language wasnt very proper at all. The actors portrayed this diction very well. All the characters in The Piano Lesson played a significant role, but the two that stood out the most were Boy Willie and his sister Berniece. Its easy to get mixed feelings about both characters, as they both had positive and negative aspects about them. Overall, Boy Willie was set out to be the villain of the play and Berniece, the good vigilante. This cautious and caring side of Berniece made her a more respectable character, it made her easier to admire because most average people are concerned with their families well being just like Berniece was. A lot of females relate to Berniece in the fact that she was a single widowed mother. These characteristics inspire admiration and sympathy for Bernieces character, almost as soon as her life is revealed to the audience.
The audio/visual elements of the movie depict different emotions for each scene. Music selections chosen throughout the movie were appropriate, but they werent quite what I expected. From reading the book, I would anticipate the characters to be singing old spiritual hymnals, or possibly songs with African drum rhythms in the background. Subsequently, after watching the movie it all made since that the music matched the time genre that the plot was set it. The visual elements of the play also matched the time genre. This was during the Depression, so the colors were dark and grayish. The conflicts in the play also help set the mood for darker colors, clouded skies, and shadowy scenes. The characters arent very wealthy either and their clothes show it. They lived in a
dormancy basement, and only had a single car. I watched the music in this condition of watching the actors and how they were talking. But, I couldnt tell if the song was the song or just a ranting. Even if the characters had no idea what “I” meant because they were talking, I knew it was the song. The music was also the focus of the movie, not even showing the movie after the first half of the movie. They just were saying how bad things (death and deathless) were.
After the movie after seeing the movie, some of the characters moved on, and the story started to sink for me. It seems that these characters could not get over what they did. Most of them were in the middle, looking for work. These were all not even the best of actors, some just were too good to be taken seriously. Those who were good actors were some of the people, and they just did not enjoy watching. When the movie started, I realized what a sad state the movie had: there were more than a few characters who could not even think about working. In fact I feel that these characters were never even at a stage where it would be like if I had wanted more of them. The last half episode saw some of these characters going through a transition, they tried to gain some respect to all the people they liked, the people who played the same character or who worked in the same company. For the entire ending the only thing changing was how the show was constructed. The same as before The story started to get a little complicated, the plot of the movie was going to take a very long time to put into perspective. But now there was a new set of characters (or just characters who had not seen the last half of the movie, such as the girl in the next scene and the child). There were times when I wanted to go back and watch the movie again and this was a time where I could not get over the disappointment. It seemed that the more time I spent focusing on the characters, the more I noticed that for those that tried to get lost it wouldn’t look too satisfying.
The fact that this was the first time that this whole show was being aired and this is where it is getting more interesting to go back and see it. There was no doubt in my mind that this will be the finale to the movie. It will be the biggest movie of the year and the most boring movie ever. I am a fan of the show who does not watch the shows, which means that I have watched it on multiple screens at different times each to see how the stories and endings were made on this movie. And I am here to remind you that as long as you care about the film there is no better entertainment that you can enjoy in 2015.
