Much controversy surround the subject of intelligence. Intelligence tests were developed in late nineteen and early twentieth century to assess the intelligence of individual and groups. However, for some people IQ tests mean an advantage for other mean a disadvantage. This depending on so many factors. When we talk about immigrants my opinion is that it will be very big disadvantage for most of them. On the other hand the situation doesnt seem like this when we talk about their children. A reason for this is consist in three main factors which I will present in this essay, and I will ground on my position with some examples.
First of all, the reason for most adult immigrants to not achieve a good result on their IQ test is the language. While they wont have this problem if they did the test on their native language. This mean that their IQ test wont be real measure of their intelligence. Its not the same with their children, especially if they grew up in this country. How we know the kids are more likely to learn fast different languages in their early ages. Therefor they will not have any problems with the IQ test.
Second, the culture is a very important factor which brings influence to bear on the IQ results. It is an integral part of the human life. In our case the immigrants come from a country with different culture,which is normal that they are not so familiar with the culture of this new for them country. This inevitably bear on decrease of their IQ score. Its different with their children again because they go to school. This mean they are quite familiar with the culture of this country. They have the opportunity to learn more about it from many sources which the school provides for them.
