Wireless Security Policy
Wireless access will be restricted to only internal employees on our internal wireless network. Internal employees will only be allowed to access the network using company supplied computers with the correct virus protection software installed to ensure our network is maintained and secure. A separate and completely unrelated network will be created for use with external equipment known as our guest wireless network. This network will require temporary account set up and users are not to use external equipment on a daily basis. For additional security we will hide the SSID and make sure it is setup on internal laptops only so that outside users cannot access our network. With a hidden SSID it will make it that much harder for any hackers or people looking to get on our internal network to find and connect to a network they are not able to locate. A proper site survey will also make sure that the network is only able to be located indoors and in secure areas so that anyone outside the company premises is not able to locate the network.
Our Network will be set up with the network authentication of WPA2 and the data encryption of AES. Wi-Fi Protected Access version 2 (WPA2) is generally looked at and graded with the highest security setup a wireless network can have. With the set up foe Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) we will have a generally solid and reliable network. We will also be enabling IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network. With this set up a computer must authenticate with the correct certificate to the network before it can access the network.
