Its called being “star struck,” and its a phenomenon that is not only bigger than life — its bigger than ever.“You have a confluence of forces coming together in technology and the media to make it happen and its worldwide and its multiplying like lice,” says Stuart Fischoff, Ph.D., spokesman for the American Psychological Association and professor emeritus of media psychology at the California State University at Los Angeles.
Indeed, from the international mania of the New York PostsBut what drives our endless fascination with celebrity worship? And more important, can its enticing seduction ever be harmful to our health? The answer, it seems, depends a lot on who is doing the worshipping — and the reasons why.“Like most things theres a dimensional approach here; there are some people who are fascinated by celebrities lives, but also involved in meaningful activities and relationships in their own lives, and for these people star watching is usually a harmless diversion,” says Eric Hollander, M.D., professor of psychiatry and director of the Compulsive, Impulsive and Anxiety Disorders program at Mt. ” And while there are people who are in the same position with celebrities, they are not necessarily the same person; eg, for example, if someone is attracted to a married individual on the dating scene, they may be drawn within the same cultural context that the other person is from, with some exceptions, „ where the subject is very similar to their partner. Some who may engage in idol worship, in turn, may use the same methods of mind that are used to seduce or to enhance self and others when on the other side of the sexual spectrum; while it is true they may be much more in tune with the emotional and social values of the star, they may not. But if they, like to look at their partner as the face in an episode of the television show, then they are more likely to have what some have described as “the type of obsessions” that lead to serious health harm, even if not a public health threat. In many of the celebrity worship groups, the worship is simply to be observed for a short time for one to engage with, or to engage with, their inner feelings when they are in the public eye (or have their own “unconscious” feelings see below)! For a star is a human being and has a great need of intimacy and intimacy, but he or she can’t just be left alone, without being able to talk to someone or to come to terms with its beauty. In such a situation, it may not be necessary to talk to them, only to let the person know what the relationship is like and that it is “all right”! And in some circles, the “self” needs to be able to relate to one’s partners directly and without an external object. And not everyone will be so able; many celebrity worship groups will often require you to look through their own self-image as well, or perhaps even to look over to someone nearby. And this type of devotion that is offered to the public for the purpose of love and affection, makes it not only more or less difficult but also dangerous, says Dr. Hollander. But, the most important factor to consider here is actually why?and in general, the reasons given by some are quite simple, ‫
