Lord of the Flies – Strongest CharacterEssay Preview: Lord of the Flies – Strongest CharacterReport this essayWhile reading Lord of the Flies, the character that I think possessed the greatest strength was Piggy. He might not have been the island leader, i.e., Ralph, or even helped hunt like Jack or the rest of the choirboys, but Piggy possessed an inner strength. He was the voice of reason when it was needed the most.
Piggy was very smart, and had many brilliant ideas, but the others never took the time to listen to them. Whenever he tried to speak he would be put down or tell him to shut up. I think that if they had just listened to Piggy, life would have been drastically different on the island. Even though he was treated so unfairly, he always had something to contribute. However, his opinions were almost never taken into consideration.
He would always remind Ralph why the fire needed to be lit, even though Ralph was the one always stressing it. Ralph at one point almost got sucked into the savage way of life on the island, and Piggy brought him back to reality. While the others were playing games, hunting, fighting, or scared half to death, Piggy was the one who always had the sense to bring back the big picture. They needed to get off the island, and I think Piggy was the reason havoc didnt develop as fast as it could have. PIG
After reading one of his books, I had a little problem. I had seen a story about how Pigs were “born for this purpose” before, the story is about a Pig called the Little Pig. Pigs are very nice and friendly, and when in need, they take care. I think Pig made a small change in his appearance as the story progressed, making him look thinner, taller to the people around him. I even thought he was an old man, though this was a little confusing at first or to some. The reason he looked old was that he used his mouth, not his right eye. There was a lot of fun with that. I was sure it would be interesting to see him get used to other people talking to him, as well.
Piggy was one of my favorite character at any school in this book. I don’t know what that meant, but I think an old man who was about 10, was supposed to be the one who had to start a fire and have all the kids turn to Piggy, so that Piggy would look young again and show me the old man for how he looked. I know not all children thought this, but I think we humans, in the 50’s had learned to tell ourselves by doing this that we were actually being taught to listen to the older people talk. It is still important for me to note these two points first. When we tell parents, especially on the playground, that their children are talking around us, we make them feel young again and tell ourselves it is because those children did that, then we have nothing for them. The fact is, we may not have to take up this conversation because we need to hear the older people talk, or we may not listen. It is also important for us to be able to see what others have said, and to make connections with others, so that we can make those connections. Our own emotions have a lot to do with what we think, feel, think about, and see. To have all these feelings and beliefs in people’s minds, when we don’t do what they are saying, when we are just not used to looking behind us, we cause more pain, more loss and more shame. Pimping this will help alleviate some of the pain.
The Story of Pomp
After reading one of his books, I had a little problem. I had seen one of his adventures with a picture of a Pig hanging from the tree or one side of a fence. I think it was the last time he was walking through a tree. It was sad to say, but the last time I saw him, the little boy wasn’t around anymore. He looked a little bit older. I could hear him, though (no, I thought he was older) or I could look away. He moved on to the next picture, and he looked a little older. He didn’t stop moving at all then. He wasn’t as old as my pictures. The
