In the novel, Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontё uses literary devices such as repetition and diction to reveal the tone of amazement and wonder throughout the passage.
In the text, Brontё reveals a tone of amazement and wonder by using the literary technique of repetition. By using repetition, the author shows us that Jane is amazed by the kindness and beauty of Miss Temple. Repeating words like, “the”, “nor”, and “of” proves to us that Jane is dazzled by the hospitality of Miss Temple. In Jane’s quote “ The refreshing meal, the brilliant fire, the presence of kindness of her beloved instructress…” she repeats the word “the” to show that she is in awe of how kind Miss Temple is. Also, the quote said by Jane, “ Miss Temple had always something of serenity in her air, of state in her mien, of refined propriety in her language, which precluded deviation into the ardent, the excited, the eager…” is showing
