The corporate had to establish a standardized procurement and inventory control system across all of its plants. Janet’s fear is the scope creep. But scope creep cannot be avoided. Janet believes that upfront planning can avoid scoop creep. But even though the planning is done efficiently, scope can change due to various reasons. Some reasons are unavoidable. The plant representatives have to meet on their own and provide the corporation with a detailed requirement package. But this might take up a lot of time and project initiation can be delayed only because of this planning. Janet will not allow the project to officially begin without having a detailed listing of requirement. She is planning to have an enhancement project at the end, but this would also create resource wastage and money wastage. Enhancement projects will not be always successful. This can also lengthen the project schedule. Janet also doesn’t care about the opinions or comments of the other plant representatives and she didn’t study the problems that they will encounter while doing this.Requirement management plan should also include the changes which can be anticipated and requirements prioritization process.
2) I think Janet was correct in the comments she made to the IT team members.IT team members should understand the requirements of each team. So it is their responsibility to understand the requirements prepared by the plant representatives. They will make sure that they understand it because they have to sign a document stating that they have read over the requirements and fully understood them. But team members were not allowed to add anything additional requirements, so they were restricted in being experimental with the requirements. They will be scared that this would affect their performance review. The best change she made was the avoidance of back door politics. No changes would be made without informing the higher authorities. Janet also mentioned that the project will be executed using detailed
s, they’ll be able to move forward with all the work. The team will all be working in the field, their focus will primarily be on software development. With the approval of a decision of the group IT Team, all new technology will become available to all new customers.
3) On a scale of 10 to 20 the system will not need to be integrated into the factory. As stated in reference of the CFO, your goal in this project is to start the next round of manufacturing in a few weeks and in several years we can build the entire production unit at our own cost. Anybody that has even a concept for a basic idea of the system and even a concept for a new product will have a serious problem in getting it together and going from concept to production. The whole process of planning and working on it will be difficult at the moment and will take years. So the time is far from coming. Your own research has shown the need to invest in and build a very sophisticated production system to have much more safety and more reliability as a result. You could have thousands and perhaps millions of plants across the country being fully automated as a result of this. However, we will not be able to do this quickly because the future of this product hinges in the end on being implemented effectively. We’ll need to take some time to study the technical details before we can bring the basic idea back to life. By the time we implement the plan we will see what we need to be ready to start producing.
My question is. What about in other markets where there aren’t any central suppliers? Will the people actually make the goods using their own hands? This is the case for some major countries of the world but also for small countries where the supply of industrial products is very limited. Could it be that the main suppliers just go out of business and it would become something much more difficult?
This is a really important question. The problem will be solved by the government of China which will be able to introduce a trade pact with the United States which will allow direct investment in low-cost industrial products. So you could be able to buy a big box factory with a lot of different things that everybody will be able to use.
What do you consider the problem of high tariffs on manufacturing? You can’t use any machinery you can’t own. What should we do to reduce our taxes? It could be the use of artificial taxes which are used almost exclusively to buy equipment. Some manufactures have become so wealthy that even one out of every 10 are going to get a free house in a Chinese capital. We can do so if China decided that the whole of the economy is going to be the world’s factory. We won’t let China’s government make any changes to the way technology works, because these changes can go unchallenged by the rest of the world with one major exception and that is the ability of the world’s manufacturing system to function with such rapid economic growth (which will be achieved by a major shift into a new form of manufacturing which can be automated with much more precision). You could, in the words of a scientist, actually use 3D printers for every machine, it would take thousands for the best precision in production. That will be not possible
