Konerak was only fourteen and he was running for his life. He was trapped in an apartment and luckily got a chance to escape. A blond guy had slipped him some kind of powerful drug making him disoriented and confused. The guy he was running from was Jeffrey Dahmer. When I first heard about Jeffrey Dahmer, I thought, is it true? Could one man be capable of committing such hetrocious crimes? After hearing about what he had done, I knew this was going to be something I wanted to learn about. Dahmer took the lives of innocent men who were unaware of what this man was capable of doing. This is important because Dahmer changed our minds on murderers committing the unexpected. Dahmer was cunning, persuasive, and extremely manipulative. So I thought about the little questions that I think should be answered. Questions like, what is the full story? Was he diagnosed with mental problems? Were the murders premeditated? And lastly, how did our justice system deal with this?
What is the full story?
Jeffrey Dahmer was convicted as a serial killer for killing innocent men, while living out his necrophilic and cannibalistic desires. “Dahmer murdered a total of seventeen men between 1978-1991.” (Jeffrey Dahmer Biography. Bio.com). This quote is important because it boldly and plainly tells you how many murders he committed. Also, when you hear about Dahmer, it doesn’t shock you until you hear numbers. Once you hear it, it takes his insanity to a whole new level of extreme. When hearing this quote, I just think about how many lives he took and the time it took him to do it. I thought about how he was eighteen when he committed his first murder and thirty-one when he committed his last. He deliberately took thirteen years to maliciously plan and execute his murders. Dahmer was definitely not an ordinary killer.
Of the seventeen men he killed, he didn’t just kill and end it. He tortured his victims before and after death. “He would pick up gay men (most were black), go back to his house, drug, rape, kill (sometimes rape again), then dismember the bodies.” This quote answers the question because it explains precisely how and what he did to his victims. This information provides the full story of what happened when he was alone with his victims. Hearing this quote, I thought about how precise he was. He took time into shaping his skill. It was also like he was lurking. He preyed on his victims and when he saw who he wanted, he pointed them out. He leaped on the opportunity to take advantage of men, and use them to fulfill his fantasies. Overall, these numbers are shocking. They never knew what they were in for. And no one knew what Dahmer could do. The next question is, did he have mental problems?
Was he diagnosed with mental problems?
During his trial, Dahmer was diagnosed with necrophilia, cannibalism,
