INTRODUCTION
MOTIVATION
Motivation is a positive means of urging an individual to perform things to meet the goals. Motivation is not inflicted from outside, it is an intrinsic desire of every man to meet the target goals through activity or performance. Motives are generally expression of a person’s need. Thus, they are more likely internal and personal. Whenever an individual join an organization, he brings with him certain needs that may affect the “on the job performance”. Some of these needs could be physiological, psychological as well as social values; some of these needs are difficult to satisfy and they also differ from one another. Other than that needs, Maslow a well-known author developed the so-called “hierarchy of needs” which includes the following: self-actualization, esteem, social, security and physiological needs.

Motivation is essentially about commitment to doing something. In the context of a business, motivation can be said to be about “The will to work” However, motivation is about more than simply working hard or completing tasks. Entrepreneurs and staff can find motivation from a variety of sources. Motivation can come from the enjoyment of the work itself and/or from the desire to achieve certain goals e.g. earn more money or achieve promotion. It can also come from the sense of satisfaction gained from completing something, or achieving a successful outcome after a difficult project or problem solved.

Specific employee attitudes relating to job satisfaction and organizational commitment are of major interest to the field of organizational behaviour and the practice of human resources management. Attitude has direct impact on job satisfaction. Organizational commitment on the other hand, focuses on their attitudes towards the entire organization. Although a strong relationship between satisfaction and commitment has been found, more recent research gives more support to the idea that commitment causes satisfaction. However, most studies treat satisfaction and commitment differently, especially in light of things like downsizing that are part of modern organizations.

JOB SATIFACTION
Job Satisfaction is the favorableness or un-favorableness with which the employee views his work. It expresses the amount of agreement between one’s expectation of the job and the rewards that the job provides. Job Satisfaction is a part of life satisfaction. The nature of one’s environment of job is an important part of life as Job Satisfaction influences one’s general life satisfaction. Job Satisfaction, thus, is the result of various attitudes possessed by an employee.
