Job Satisfaction
Introduction
Ensuring job satisfaction is necessary to determine how company employees feel about their job based on different job characteristics (Robbins & Judge, 2011). There are many ways to measure job satisfaction including the Likert scale, The Job Descriptive Index, Job in General Index, and surveys such as the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire.

Likert Scale
The Likert Scale is probably the most common method for collecting data regarding job satisfaction is the Likert Scale which is named after Rensis Likert. Through surveys or questionnaires numerical values are assigned to data in order to perform statistical analysis. Usually individuals are provided a statement and five responses to choose from. The five responses are usually strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, and strongly disagree. Each response is then associated to a numerical value. A final average of the numerical values associated to the responses would then represent an overall value to determine ones job satisfaction

The Job Descriptive Index
The Job Descriptive Index is a questionnaire. It measures five specific areas contributing to an employees satisfaction: pay, promotions and promotion opportunities, coworkers, supervision, and the work itself. There are 72 items in the survey with only three possible responses to each item. The employee answer either yes, no, or cant decide (often reflected as ‘?) As with the Likert Scale, each response is then associated to a numerical value. A final average of the numerical values associated to the responses would then represent an overall value to determine ones job satisfaction within each of the five areas
