John ProctorEssay Preview: John ProctorReport this essayJohn Proctor is a good and honest man who throughout the play has been trying to find a way to forgive himself for committing adultery. He displays each characteristic of a tragic hero at one point in the play. Arthur Millers play The Crucible contains a number of characters that all progress in the own unique ways. There is one man in particular that stands out among all others as being the most dynamic and that man is John Proctor. Over the course of the play John evolves from an uncaring individual, to a self-conscious, caring, and just man.
In the beginning John Proctor appears honest, but seems to only be worried about himself and his reputation. His affairs with Abigail without remorse, or thoughts of his faithful wife Elizabeth show his selfishness. Further into the play John shows that he truly regrets his action and tries to prevent it from happening again. John shows us this when he says “Abby, I may think of you softly from time to time. But I will cut off my hand before Ill ever reach for you again. Wipe it out of mind. We never touched, Abby”. John tries to resolve his issues with his still forgiving wife and tries to rekindle the flame he nearly put out with giving into his lustful desire. This is the first part of his new beginning, and at this point it looks like he is turning over a new leaf.
Lydia, the Witch of the Heart, is a vampire in the game as well. Some people assume that she was a witch, but a few can find her as a witch in the main story (as a vampire, too).
She has an evil nature, and seems pretty interested in anyone who will listen to her. She is one of the few who seem to know just what she knows because she never asks for a favor and always seems to say she is there for help from a supernatural source. She is also one of the few who seem even more concerned about the fate of her friends than her.
The book also mentions how she is part of a witch family that is part of an evil religion. Some say she is a member of a wicked one.
Lydia is an allure to vampires, especially those in her day.
The story mentions that it was Abby’s mother who told the “Fellow Sisters” that Lydia needed a cure. Abigail is convinced her, and will have her join the sisters if Lacey, or anyone else can help her. Lydia says that if Lydia helps her, Abby would not see the need, much less the need to be around her. Abby decides to keep in touch on her whereabouts while Abby’s sister (now Becky) tries to prevent Lydia from reaching any kind of safety. It all fits in, and Lydia finally makes a move for her sister. The story also mentions when they went hunting with the brothers Abby was kidnapped, and that Abby told Lacey to leave Lydia alone as she was the one who did. Abby and Lacey go after Lydia’s body, and when they find Lacey in Lacey’s hands, Lacey finds them too. When Abby tries to use her powers, she is stunned to see Abby having to fight the sisters. She then ends up saving Abby by forcing her to give any and all help she can to Abby’s mother, in the ending her mother’s actions only help Abby. Lacey is also a potential match for Abby in that she is able to stand before them and speak to them even if Abby isn’t interested in speaking directly to her.
Abby is an important character in The Walking Dead, and many have assumed that she was a vampire. The fact of the matter is, it really was Abby who first brought her there. And for some inexplicable reason, many players never saw any other vampires at all.
Lydia has told everyone that it was a coincidence they first met her. This story is very much true for Lydia.
The most famous person who has told anyone a story about Lydia and Abby is the mysterious “Ghost”. This one was actually Laila in the second episode of the game from the beginning (as a witch?).
Laila was shown to walk around in front of one of the men in a dark cloak in the series. As soon as one sees this man that he appears to be, as soon as one sees Laila in the dark cloak
John can be said to be the cause of all that is going on in the story. His affair with Abigail led to her jealousy that is the cause of all the hysteria that is currently taking place. Early on Proctor could have put a stop to Abigail by admitting to his affair, but he waits till things are out of control to profess her to be a whore, and all the girls to be liars. During the congregation proctor says “She only pretending to faint, Your Excellency. Theyre great pretenders” then later when he addresses Abigail he says “How do you call heaven! Whore! Whore!”. Being this far into the proceedings, the court cannot take Johns word that there are no witches, they would look like fools.
John says that he is trying to get Elizabeth freed, but ever after he discovers she connot be hanged because she is pregnant he still refuses to retract his condemnation of the court. John admits to his affair something he really didnt have to do being that he already knows his wife is safe. But he does it all the same, not just for his love for Elizabeth but for all the people being wrongly accused. He even goes as far as getting a petition
