Now you know the key event the key person is Abraham..                          Abraham Life and ImportanceThe history of the Jewish people begins in Bronze Age times in the Middle East when God promised a nomad leader called Abram Known as Abraham in scripture and that he would be the father of a great people if he did as God told him. Let’s talk about Abraham for a minute now the name Abraham was not what he was first known as it was Abram According to scripture God called onto Abraham and commanded him to leave his home to other land trusting in God What Abraham didn’t know is that the journey he was commanded to do from God would be  a pilgrimage that paved the path when it comes to Judaisim  gather his things and set out on a journey that became a historical and key event in Judaism because it establish land that is known today as Israel what Abraham didn’t understand the importance that journey mad him and his son along with grandson the first patriarchs in Judaism. The importance Abraham’s had in Jewish history was amazing when God had assured Abraham of land and many followers. In turn God made a covenant with Abraham Now God called on Abraham and revealed to him that his followers must be circumcised as a sign of their relationship with God. The definition of circumcision B’rit milah, (literally, “covenant of circumcision”), also called a bris, refers to a religious ritual through which male babies are formally welcomed into the Jewish people. According to Jewish tradition, it is a parent’s obligation to circumcise a son and offer a threefold blessing for the child: a life enriched by Torah, the wedding canopy (chuppah), and good deeds. Today, a mohel or mohelet is routinely designated by parents to fulfill this custom. Abraham was ninety-nine years old at the time of his circumcision for obeying God call a promise from God was that to have land and protection. As Abraham grew stronger in his faith, God told him to offer his son Isaac as a burnt offering to prove his faith. Abraham obeyed and agreed and brought Isaac to Mount Moriah where he laid him at the altar, but at last minute the lord said not to kill Isaac but gave him a ram instead. This is what some would call made Abraham a friend of God.
