The Key Players
The key players in the case are Wallingofrd, Lassiter, Hedges, and Kovecki (Ginder: President of Unitrak) Wallingford was aggressive in the business community, making him in the right position for President. Lassiter worked hard solely for the success and the increase of revenue for the company. Vice President of Marketing and Membership suits him as well. Hedges did not know much in the field of Information Systems and lacked IT experience, and he was the main reason for the failure of Midsouth Chamber of Commerce. Hedges is not fit for his position. Kovecki had no experience with the business side of information systems and struggled throughout the process. Being a computer science graduate, his expertise should’ve been used elsewhere.
Unitrak Software Corporation’s role was appropriate because that company was creating software while this was all going on. The fault lies with Midsouth Chamber of Commerce by selecting a software that doesn’t fit with their line of work.
Kovecki should not take the full blame. Although he might not have been experienced with Information Systems, he tried convincing the company to not use Unitrak’s software.
It explains that Information Systems is necessary for almost every company to function efficiently. Without the understanding of business based on technology, no company will be able to prosper and grow without taking heavy losses.
Lassiter did not have anyone’s support during this phase of implanting new software. The other key players of the organization belonging to the IT department did not work together as a team to make this new software system success. As a result, the operations and data transfer became a serious issue. Considering Lassiter did not belong to the computer operations department, Hedges and Kovecki were not happy about their situation. Teamwork and cooperation is key to make the company run efficiently.
Lassiter should take up the position that Kovecki had.
