The key purpose of any internship is to expose an individual in an office environment and teach that individual how to perform tasks in a professional manner. While youre an intern you are in an environment the same as that of a school. There are senior officials present around who act as teachers and help you build a persona suitable for the highly competitive world. Though most of the interns dont get big work opportunities, an intern always need to have the quality to observe and gain some other qualities from the seniors that gives the intern an edge in the market.
The internship provides the kind of work experience that one cant have in a classroom by any means. You watch and learn a whole new world that you havent ever experienced or seen from your eyes. But it always doesnt mean that the classroom isnt connected to the internship. An internship gives you a golden opportunity to use the skills you have learned in your classroom in a real-life setting and thus you can prove your abilities and that you can do the task given to you with ease. Once your internship helps you to perform tasks with extreme ease you gain confidence. Confidence is one big quality that helps an individual to talk and to be smart enough in his/her future. If a university interviewer asks if you can do something, you would never say, “Uhm, yes I guess I can do that” but you will say “Absolutely! I cant wait to start of with it.” This proves that with confidence comes great enthusiasm.
As an ideal art lover I have tried to be creative in whatever I do. Working at a professional work place might sound a bit boring when you hear about it but it isnt. I have tried to be as creative as I could in my work place. Instead of planning a composition for my next painting I used my creative mind in putting in some ideas during the office meetings. It helped my creative mind grow and helped it to think completely outside the box again helping me to boost my confidence.
To sum it up, I believe internship is like a test-drive which you take before you decide whether or not to go for this career. Its a chance you get to learn, to explore and to discover your choices about your future. If you are done with an internship you can proudly tick the option on your university application, which say, “Did you have a productive and useful summer?”
