Service Request SR-kf-013
According to the Service Request SR-kf-013, Kudler Fine Foods is interested in track customer purchases and implement a reward system for loyal customers (University of Phoenix, 2007). This paper will describe the potential legal, ethical, and information security concerns related to the development of the Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Shopper Program.
Background Information
Kudler Fine Foods is interested in a system that can track the purchases from clients via web services. The program will be called Frequent Shopper Program and will include rewards points for loyal customers that can be redeemed at certain specific moments (University of Phoenix, 2007). The following requirements are included in the Service Request SR-kf-013:
The system will track purchases of individual customers
The system will be able to track loyal customers
Customers’ purchases will be accumulated as loyalty points
Customers can redeem their points for gift items, specialty foods and other products or services made available through partnerships with other external vendors or businesses. (University of Phoenix, 2007)
The project will gather some business requirements that are described in the following section.
Business/Systems Requirements
In order for Kudler Fine foods to develop a successful Consumer Loyalty Program, the store needs to be able to track the sales. In order to track the costumers the store could use a Transaction Processing System (TPS). The TPS needs to be able to keep track of who bought what, how much they spent, rather or not if they are a loyal customer, in order to identify the costumer ID card can be scanned and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to be entered at check out. Loyalty program should be accessible from all locations and all vendors involved, this will allow vendors involved to check to be sure customers are eligible for the rewards
User Requirements
In order for a costumer to be considered for a loyal costumer card they must fill out an application to be approved by the stores policies.
Technical Requirements
In order for Kudler’s loyalty program to be a success the company needs to be certain that the stores have the correct systems are in place. A Database with large storage in order to keep costumer records is vital. Stores must be set up with enough bandwidth so that the database can be accessed from multiple locations simultaneously. A Technical Support team needs to be in place in order to monitor system for problems that may occur.
