Brazil is the largest country on the continent of South America and the fifth largest continent in the world. Home to the Amazon rain forest, Brazil is full of natural resources and agricultural land. History and culture runs deep in this country, but the past is full of economic turmoil and uncertainty. In the late 1990’s economic crisis were being felt around the world, and the fear of the international marketplace was that if Brazil’s economy collapsed, those in many Latin American countries would be next. The following is an analysis of Brazil’s past and present economic situation, as well as the bold attempt by President Fernando Henrique Cardoso to keep Brazil’s economy prosperous.
Settled by the Portuguese in the early 1500’s, there is a distinct difference between the northern and southern regions of Brazil. The south has been primarily settled by Europeans, and has become much more industrialized than the north. The north, were the population is mostly of African decent, is more geared to agriculture, such as sugarcane farming. Most of Brazil’s population lives in urban centers, with a little less that half residing in the southern states.
For years Brazil has been a featured country in South America. Not only is Brazil a very pretty country, it is filled with an abundance of natural resources. For three centuries Brazil was ruled by Portugal. The country finally gained its independence as a nation in the year of 1822. Brazil is the largest and most populous country in South America. Therefore, it is also a big part of the economy in South America. For over half a century Brazil has fought to overcome military intervention by the government in search of industrial and agricultural growth and development of the interior. Do to Brazil’s vast natural resources and a huge amount of jobs and workers; it has become Latin America’s leading economic power. However, highly unequal income distribution remains a very serious problem within the Brazil.
Brazil is located in the Eastern part of the continent of South America. Geographically its coordinates are 10 00 S, 55 00 W. The total area of Brazil consists of 8,511,965 sq km. Of that area, 8,456,510 sq km is land, and 55,455 sq km is water. The country of Brazil is just smaller than the United States. It is bordered by Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay and Peru
Brazil is also popular in fashion as well. The citizens of Brazil are very fashion conscious from the beach wear to casual to the formal wear. The clothes in Brazil are different and cotton is a more expensive fabric and not as common as mixed fabric. During the winter the style is the layered style and the key is to keep you warm. Brazil does not have a lot of thick fabric clothing to keep warm. So the people of Brazil must layer. Seeing that the beach is on of the most popular recreations in Brazil. Bikinis are one of the most popular outfits around town. All of the women know about bikinis because they love to wear them. One
