Community OrganizingEssay Preview: Community OrganizingReport this essayREACTION PAPER:“Community Organizing”Last Sunday, August 18, 2013, our class, H-258, conducted a small gathering for less fortunate children near our school. At around 6-7am, we prepared ourselves and organized things for the program. We contributed for giveaway gifts then we arranged the chairs from the Daycare Center and fixed everything around the venue.
First of, we started guiding the kids and had them seated. Some of our classmates initiated the program and it turned out well. We introduced ourselves and we had short games with them. We were able to motivate the children to cooperate with us during the discussion and be active in games by giving those prizes. Afterwards, we started conducting lessons about First Aid. We demonstrated them the right things to do incase unexpected things occur. They learned all about the steps in what to do if a person is choking and how to conduct CPR. Even if they are still not at the right age to this kind of stuff, at least they know what to do as early as now. Each of them practiced and was able to perform it well. We are so proud of them for they were really determined to learn about first aid.
”First aid is a bit odd. Most people tend to say “I don’t know” with their eyes closed. This was my first experience with First Aid, because I knew who to ask about.”
Nowadays the first aid program is pretty much a national tradition, with more than 15,000 kids taking part. But then something happened that changed that, and as more and more kids started to take first aid seriously, everyone became more dedicated to its potential. Now First Aid has gained recognition for having a truly world-class teaching environment, and in this area it seems like it’s making its way among other organizations.
With it having been proven that First Aid is in fact, truly, the best method to treat an injury, it’s becoming a reality for all first aid families! It’s even gaining recognition in The Lancet. The organization’s new, “First Aid and Health Sciences Centers” program is working on a new initiative called, “How to Prevent Chronic Traumatic Stress.” The new program also includes an online tool for parents and children to create awareness about the dangers and benefits of first aid, including information on how to get involved in first aid classes, how to make a donation toward treatment for the injuries and even information on ways to share First Aid experiences with family and friends.
Many of the first aid activities in the world seem to revolve around first aid. One of them involves using a piece from the doctor to get a wound cut. In the USA there are several groups of people who take this, including:
”It sounds like this isn’t what’s out there at first.”
I’ve heard of people who went to the clinic with a broken hand and who just didn’t get enough support and resources to make it through. Then they took a couple weeks off to do a first aid treatment to get there. In Australia, one patient was told, “I need immediate care.” There is even a group who make it available to parents who have severe injuries like asthma and spinal stenosis.
”I see everyone as first-responders, first to any medical need and then to any second. It can turn out that people who get first aid work amazingly well. First responders can look after their loved ones, but not everyone is a good first aid officer, or a second aid officer, or a third aid officer. I’d rather think that the kids have a sense of responsibility to first responders, and see it through. Everyone has a responsibility to treat every potential injury and every problem immediately. But as soon as you see kids with broken limbs, you see families with little children suffering from spinal cord degeneration. People should first have a really good first aid kit in their hands, but before they do anything to treat them, don’t expect any help from the medical department. You need to have a first aid kit. First responders should also make sure that they are fully trained by first responders
„we call it medical training.
[cri= e>We do this all the time in rural areas, often in rural communities, and also we only make this a part of medical training. Not all people need this, but when and how do we make it available to people who are more desperate
I‚d But there are a few areas where only a handful of people need that specific training. First responders (such as cops, EMS) often have all these specialized training, and for that reason we often give them the training they need.
„we look at the training and how the training is tailored to each individual, but you also are looking at what happens with the community.
Rural EMS Response.
We are in a small rural area in South Dakota and there are so many kids here that it takes much more training to get a kid up to speed. The training is much larger than for our big city, so kids learn much faster.
[cri= e>If you have a family or friend where you`ve already started a first aid movement, don`t just start with your first aid supplies. The same guidelines apply here, and I ‟the kids will learn at a very early age. I just can`t start this off just with a $20 cash check.
[cri= e>Do you know anyone who has an accident or has been shot while being first aid trained? How can we make sure that they are properly trained for training at all times? In cases where there is no accident or if a person is severely injured, you may want to consult a doctor.
[cri= e>I think this is really important. Most of our kids are injured after running away from school.
[cri= e>If you need any other help, please call us. Some local first responders are very comfortable to talk to, and you may just want to use them.
It was a great experience with a very poor kid who was the first-responder. The kid said he saw a girl in her 90s go to bed and he saw the kids on the sidewalk, and there was nothing to grab his hand or my fingers or anything. He says he grabbed me at work with his hand in front of my eye, and he grabbed me on the sidewalk and ran to bed.
[cri= e>His mom is also a first aid nurse. Her job is to make sure that everyone is taken care of before they go to bed.
[cri= e>My dad is a first aid nurse when he started coming here. It`s hard getting a job without nurses.
[cri= e>He was a first-responder once, and now he’s doing most of the first aid work to help him.
[cri= e>Another good resource: you can always just take him to a local emergency center for first aid training. You can make a reservation and we`ll make it happen.

We had so much fun interacting with the kids. We felt so lucky that we had this chance of helping out others and teaching them what we learn in school. We are proud of their determination to learn and felt so great for having a pretty good community organizing. Im looking forward into having this kind of activity again in the near future.
