In addition to that, there are different appendices provided to assist me in my writing through the use of goal development, personality tests, and other learnings that we have in classes. In this paper, I’ve included my philosophy of leadership, personal balance sheet and action plan on this paper as this would be able to assist me in my future goals. Philosophy of leadership: According to Rothwell (2012), he had defined leadership as “someone who is influence people through status, authority, personality, interpersonal and group communication skills and a host for other factors.” But to me, a leader is someone who has the ability to lead, work under pressure, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate. I personally think that a leader would be able to excel in most of the tasks that they are given and motivate his/her team on doing the job well too. I’ve also analysed that I have the characteristics of a transformational leader and Laissez-faire leadership. Furthermore, the definition of transformational leader is that they provide humour into the team, inspire with stories, challenge or lead, according to Schultz, there are three types of characteristics as a transformational leader, which are Individualized consideration, Intellectual stimulation and broad knowledge of field, has a self-promoting personality, high/great energy level. Laissez-faire leadership is about a leader giving power and rights to every subordinate which could lead to votes and majorities. First of all, I personally have experience on various kinds of leadership, I’ve experienced it from Army Cadet to Student Council. But I will be writing about my best personal experience which is being the Deputy Director for Community Services in Sunway University/College. In the team, there was my Director, and some executive members within the team as well. Things turn out pretty well, I was running some events with the team, I was really close with my Council President, and I even met with the Senior Director Of Sunway Group itself. It was one of the greatest achievement I’ve gotten. In this period of time, the most important action or behaviour that I took as a leader during these periods is being able to work under pressure, assignment and events due frequently and I have to keep my head straight and make things right. I’ve also been able to inspire people, I’ve shared stories with my council members and stuff, as even now, we frequently meet up when I go back to my home country, furthermore, my decision making skills have improved through my career as some people will look up to you for decision making and you got to think fast and decide fast in order to proceed through different stages of problems. Furthermore, time management is really important because events do clash with classes and you will have to plan out your time for both the events and the class, I would usually go to the earlier class, so that I will have time for the events. I’ve also been able to lead the team during the time when the event is going on, the director and I will have to give out positions/roles in order for the events to go smoothly as we will have frequent meetings about the events. According to Rokeach instrumental, I’ve analysed that I can describe the behaviour as a sense of accomplishment and responsibility. I’ve been searching for real leaders last time, but I personally think those that have the courage to take responsibility of their doings, those that inspire and motivate people, and those who always think about others first are true leaders.
