Bolshevik Revolution
Bolshevik Revolution- The Bolshevik Revolution took place starting in 1917. This was part of the Russian Revolution, second stage. This happened when V. Lenin and his party, the Bolsheviks, seized power of Russia and established communism in the country.
Committee on Public Information- This was a committee that was built on propaganda for effort WWI in Europe among citizens of the United States. This propaganda displayed Germans and other enemies of the US in a bad way. This also helped censor the press. George Creel was a journalist who was the head of the committee. He did his part on helping the committee by printing anti-German propaganda as well (699)
Eugene Debs- E. V. Debs was the head of the American Railway Union. He was also the director of the pullman strike. This led him to be imprisoned along with many of his followers for ignoring federal court injunction to stop striking. While in prison, he became fascinated with Socialist literature, which eventually led him to become a socialist leader after his jail time. (681) WWI Draft- The first American draft for WWI occurred in May of 1917 under the presidency. This was part of the Selective Service Act, which brought about 3 million men ages 21 to 30 into the army as well as another 2 million men in other branches of the military. This was drafted because the American army only had about 120,000 members, and in order to participate and actually accomplish something in the war, they needed more men (705)
Espionage and Sedition Acts- The Espionage and Sedition acts were passed in 1917 and 1918. The Espionage act (1917) was a law that punished Americans for aiding enemies of the US
during WWI as well as refusing to join the military if you were eligible for service. The sedition act in 1918 added to the Espionage Act. The Sedition Act decided that anything that didnt support the American government or the country would be prosecuted. (700)
League of Nations- The League of Nations was proposed by president Wilson in 1919 after WWI. This league was part of his Fourteen Points Peace Plan. This was envisioned
