Nicole Ruiz, Janeth, MelissaProfessor Sanchez English 68/ 4:30 p.m.26 May 2016Homelessness within our LGBT Community In our nation today there are many issues that we American’s face. We tend to focus on the broader and popular issues that expand in our nation. Issues where we feel need the most attention, for instance homelessness a broad issue put into a higher perspective in our nations eyes. Throughout history there has always been a substantial amount of people who live in less than ideal conditions. Homelessness is having no home or permanent place of residence, but for those who live through it homelessness has multiple definitions. In our nation today there are up to 83,170 individuals that face chronic homelessness, and up to 40% of the homeless population happen to be within the LGBT community. The LGBT community are a group of people who identify themselves as either being lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. These are people who are finding out what their sexual orientation is, people who are learning to find themselves within a society where judging someone happens to be a main priority. Within our nation both issues are highly talked about, we speak about the issues as two individual problems, but never as one huge problem put together. Homelessness and the LGBT community tie in together in multiple ways, homelessness within the LGBT community has become a huge issue in the United States. An issue we cannot ignore.
