PHIL 305Kalugin 07 November 2016 The Life Aquatic with Steve ZissouWhat factors, other than money, are playing a role in employees’ behavior?  In The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou there is an actual lack of money that drives the crew to do what they do, in contrast to everyday life where money is the motive behind how employees act. In the movie, the team steals from his rival in both status and in love, Alistair Hennessey, because they cannot afford to do the mission without his equipment. Emotion is another driving factor in how the team acts. Steve feels jealousy towards Alistair and Ned over his love interests in the movie and Klaus feels that way over Ned, which drives all these men to work harder to be their best. Other emotions that drove the Zissou team were admiration and the driving force for the whole mission, revenge. Steve set out on the mission to take revenge on the jaguar shark that ate his best friend and the interns agreed to come out of admiration for Zissou. While employees both in the movie and in real life are working for money, and likely not to do so without, other factors come to play in their work. What real world parallels have you observed, in which unhappy employees might make or break (eventually) a business?Communication is key in the success of a business. If a business doesn’t listen to its employees through means of Human Resources, then their employees can grow more irritated and their own problems get worse. An organization will easily break when they aren’t listening to the concerns of their employees or the public.
