Biol 3700 Life Expectancy
BIOL 3700 Assignment 3.2: Life Expectancy1. Life expectancy from the period of 1970 to 2008 for men, women, and both sexes together increased overall. Although in 2008 the trend went back down from life expectancy in 2007 for men and women as well as both sexes together. Men had more of an increase in life expectancy from 1970 to 2008 then women did which created less of gap between sexes in 2008 then there was in 1970. 2.a) For the period 1970 to 2008, the average increase in life expectancy per year for men and women is 0.179 years of age.b) If this rate of an annual increase of 0.179 years of age per year were to stay constant the life expectancy of a child born in year 2100 would be 94 years old.3. I think a reason for the lower life expectancy in women than men could be that between 1970 and 2008, in the majority of cultures across the United States, men were traditionally the “providers” in that they were responsible to work which contributes to a lot of stress and unhealthy habits. Another reason could be that men are more statically substile to heart disease then women and more frequently found drinking and smoking. This would make sense in the light that lung disease is the number one cause of death across the United States among men and women today.4. From the chart given, as a male born in 1992 my projected life span is just over 72 years of age.
