The Role of the College Student
THE ROLE OF THE COLLEGE STUDENT
Although friendship is an extremely complicated foundation, if you break down the parts and expose who the people are in a friendship, it is easier to understand how they are made and what a friendship is. So what is the meaning of a friendship? What is the relationship between friendships and personalities? In college, friendships are crucial for the college life. Befriending people in college opens up a wealth of opportunities and knowledge that you may never experience if it wasnt for the college life. If you find the right group of friends, which will only happen if you are exposed to new people, will help with the expansion of your mind and support through difficult times. Research and analytical study from the interviews will show what the relationship between friendships and personalities, why when a persons personality differs, their friends, and the amount of friends differ. From the limited research I have found that introverted students seem to have less friends, but similar to themselves, and that extroverted students have a relatively close group of friends but have a much wider base of “acquaintances. ” Friendships differ only with the people who are in one, but otherwise, it is a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. Throughout the paper I will describe how I found my data, where I found it, the analytical findings of the data and a criticized view of how we could have bettered our investigation.
Finding the data for my research paper was relatively simple; all I did was go under “.edu” then to blackboard and print out the investigations. I chose the investigations for the primary reason that it asked the individual specific and general questions on college life. Most responded, Im assuming truthfully, although the questions that were asked were not created by a professional, so some of the answers could have been a bit too general for research purposes. The observations would not have been applicable in this research paper due to the fact it was based on somebodys perceived view of conversation and social interactions. I needed questions that were directed to the student about their college life. That was exactly what the interviews provided me with. With friendships, it has to be interviewed on a very personal level. In order for information to be given on another, you have to establish a relationship with them, unless the interview is completely confidential. This interview, given to the class, was confidential and anonymous, but was only limited to the small class, which usually inhibits the research data. In this small class, we interviewed 10 different people, some alike, while some completely different, but it was all based around personal experience. Therefore, from the questions asked, we can conclude that the specific information that was needed in this research
