Joseph ArroyosBUAD 6836/25/18Initial PaperStater Bros Market opened its first doors in 1936 and now currently has 171 stores open in Southern California. Stater Bros has slowly changed with the times but always has tried to keep the customer interaction and the company strong but changes in technology has changed the way the company does its day to day. I currently work in our IT department at the Service Desk who services both our corporate users and our store users. All our stores have a list of different technologies being utilized in their locations and our warehouse and corporate offices. In out IT department, we have a hand in all applications being utilized through our entire company with different teams that handle a list of them. It is important because our store utilize many computers as out point of sale hardware, our only source of income is through our check stands. Many different types of advances are being implemented to help better our customer service well, so it is important that technology and systems work together.
As a private company, our stakeholders externally are fewer than larger companies, besides our customers who we only service in southern California, but our internal stakeholders range about 18000 employees who depend on the company stay relevant for job security because of a changing market. As our largest stakeholders, our customers, information and technology add value to their daily experiences in our stores because of how we are ever changing to give them a more personal experience by providing them with products they want. One project that is currently in the works for our company is introducing a way to create a more personalized store for customers by creating a large database with ingredients of all our products to help our customers find products they are looking for, like for example a way of finding more gluten free products. Currently the only way for our customers to know about products is from what our employees see. For our internal stakeholders, the data warehouse we use and the different types of data base servers we have become important to our companys employees as well. Many of our different departments utilize the information that gets processed through the, such as our marketing department and our buying team. The information that gets processed from there is how they determine how much of a specific item had sold vs how much was thrown away or stolen so they can either order more or reduce their orders and work with our inventory analysts to maintain our stores inventory levels. These different types of information sharing, and utilization of technology have help improve problems the company has had such as a problem with our ordering system where orders had to be placed too far in advance, so store level inventory was out of control, or offering customers different deals that would promote popular items because the way of tracking product sales was inefficient.
