Transferring 101
The seminar that I attended was the Transferring 101. It was a seminar about all the ways and information about transferring. To me, if I would to choose to transfer I would not have the slightest idea on where to look or even begin. A lot of that gets complicated, do I have enough credits, did I take the right classes, and will everything transfer over? So with that I thought it would be a good idea to sign up for the class and plus, its free.
To start out the instructor of the course was very nice. She had a laid back personality and seemed like she would not put us to sleep. Right away she began talking about transferring. She handed out a package of papers, with information and an outline of her power point presentation. And then the power point began. I have to admit my attention span by the fourth slide was running pretty low. Maybe a little less slides, and a little more class involvement. I could tell I was not the only one because when she would ask a question silence filled the room.
She than began to show us all the various websites you could go to, to make it easy for you to understand how to transfer. The one site I found the most interesting was the one about taking a quiz to help you determine what you might want to be, or study in college. I know I have done some of those in the past, but this one seemed very organized and legitimate. She then showed us the different university websites and how they had helpful information on there too. Even MCC had theyre own.
Even thought the slideshow presentation got a little boring, I still learned a lot. New information that I had no idea existed. I kind of wished that a program like this was given in high school. Not exactly a course on transferring, but ways to choose a college. Sure they tell us things, but I do not think it is as affected as actually being shown websites and places
